Allergen Questions

We know how stressful managing allergies and sensitivities can be. As a company, we do not use any animal products, which means our treats are free from meat, eggs, dairy, and honey. In addition, we have chosen not to use nuts in our donuts, although we do offer almond milk and nut syrups at our espresso bar. Our vegan sprinkles come from Sweetapolita—we recommend checking out their site regarding their allergen protocol. We also offer several flavors of celiac-safe gluten-free donuts per day. As a result of these decisions, Lovebirds Donuts tends to be an allergy-friendly destination for many guests.

That said, it’s important to note that while we are quite allergy-friendly, it’s not possible for us to avoid every allergen. We are happy to answer your allergy questions so you can make the best decision for your needs, but before you reach out, please read through the following:

  • Dairy, Egg, Peanut, and Tree Nut: we do not use any dairy (including milk derivatives), egg, peanuts, or tree nuts in our donuts. There are occasionally ingredients that come from facilities that handle these ingredients or produce these ingredients on shared equipment. If so, this would be noted in the flavor description on both the menu page and our online ordering portal.

  • Wheat and Gluten: our gluten-free donuts are free from wheat and gluten. They have been tested celiac-safe, and are produced in their own area and fried in a dedicated fryer. While we always do our best, there is wheat flour present in our kitchen, so there is a risk of cross-contamination in that we are not a gluten-free facility.

  • Oat: there is gluten-free oat flour in our gluten-free donuts. We use gluten-free oats and oat milk in some of our glazes, toppings, and fillings, which rotate monthly.

  • Soy: there is soy oil, soy flour, and/or soy lecithin in all of our donuts. Our donuts are likely not suitable for those with soy allergies or sensitivities.

  • Corn: corn is present in all of our donuts, as it is a component of powdered sugar (a staple of glazes). It may also be present in other forms, depending on the specific flavor.

  • Legumes and Pea Protein: our gluten-free donuts contain legume flour and all donuts may contain pea protein.

  • Sesame: we do occasionally use sesame, but it would be made evident in the flavor description on both the menu page and our online ordering portal.

  • Artificial Color and Dye: In general, we mostly avoid fake colors and dyes and use natural plant-based colors. Occasionally, we will offer a topping or glaze that contains an ingredient that contains vegan-friendly synthetic colors.

  • Other Allergens: feel free to reach out and ask if you have a question about an allergen that’s not on this list.

Please note that while we understand the challenges of allergy management and do our best to minimize the use of major allergens and provide transparency, we cannot accommodate special requests or modifications to our menu items.
